SSW Update - Adam's European Adventure for TechEd 2012 in Amsterdam |
|
|
[the cutting edge ]
G'day Developers!
A quiet calm has come over the office with Adam currently in Europe for TechEd.
He was asked to present for this year's event in Amsterdam so he packed his bags and flew
over. The trip is an opportune break for Adam though he is currently working hard from the
other side of the world (he can't seem to get enough of SSW)!
Adam's absence from the office has not seen a drop in productivity here, with our developers
all knuckling down on varying projects.
- Adam S and Damian have been doing their final preparations for the launch of the Part 1
Enterprise MVC Apps courses running in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in the coming
days.
- Mehmet and Gerard are using MVC 4 to simplify the lives of shareholders of Sydney
Airport and avoid headaches related to their restructuring.
- We even have our SSWTV team working hard on a project for Event Cinemas, documenting the
progress of our team of developers working on their new website!

The Model View Controller design pattern has been an proven and effective way of structuring
applications for more than 30 years. In 2007, Microsoft introduced ASP.NET MVC to the world and
since then, the framework has evolved into a mature and powerful way of writing dynamic web sites
and powerful web applications.
ASP.NET MVC provides a great way of structuring your application, ensuring a clean separation of
concerns, easy testability, and ultimate control over markup. It is quickly becoming the go-to
framework for writing .Net web applications.
This 2 part course series will be run at 3 capital cities around Australia, with an option to
complete the course online where you are unable to attend a location.

From Zero to Everywhere with ASP.NET MVC 4
Mobile devices like tablets and phones are quickly becoming the primary way people access the web. So
why do so many websites still provide a
horrible mobile experience?
With ASP.NET MVC, it's easier than ever to literally put your site in the palm of everyone's hand.
MVC 3 had many great features that allow you
to target mobile devices with different layout and even content. The recent releases of MVC 4 makes
things even easier and show that Microsoft is
really thinking about web-enabled devices and new web technologies.
In this demo-heavy session, Damian Brady will show off some of the best parts of ASP.NET MVC 4 to
help make targeting mobile devices easy.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
With over ten years of experience both in software development and business analysis roles, Damian Brady has
had exposure to a large number of
industries including government and finance. A software architect with a wide skillset, he is able
to use his excellent technical skills and
